Two men died Thursday night after being pinned under a box truck that caught fire on I-95 near Christiana, Delaware State Police said.

Police have not yet identified the victims, ages 27 and 37. Troopers will release their names once family has been notified.

State police were called to I-95 south by Churchmans Road around 10:22 p.m. for reports of the wreck. There, they learned the driver of a BMW had gotten stuck in the middle lane of the interstate and the truck hit it from behind.

During the crash, the truck "became connected" to the BMW and pushed it south toward the right shoulder, state police said. The front of the box truck then caught fire.

The truck driver was able to get out, but the two men in the BMW were trapped in their car. They died on the scene. Police said, though, that the fire didn't extend to the passenger compartment of the BMW.

The interstate was closed for about six hours, police said.
