According to WMTW News 8, Mountain Valley High School in Maine was evacuated on Monday night due to threats during a school board meeting.

At the board meeting on Monday night, someone appeared to have joined the ongoing Zoom conference call, so a clear and vulgar threat occurred.

After the threat, the school was evacuated, the ongoing college basketball game in the gym was stopped, and students and participants were sent home.

Deb Alden, the school director, said in a statement,

"During our RSU 10 school board meeting tonight, the Zoom platform was interrupted. Crude comments and threats to'our school' were made. We quickly intervened in the Rumford Police Department and suspended the school board meeting. And ended the basketball game" in progress. We can recognize the IP address, and Rumford PD can get in touch with the owner. It seems that this may be a technical problem that other users inadvertently entered our meeting.

Alden said that out of caution, the Valley School will be closed on Tuesday, December 14, but will reopen on Wednesday, December 15 in the presence of police. She did continue to say that it was just out of caution, and she did believe that "our school is safe."

Rumford police have contacted the suspect and are investigating further. As more information becomes available, we will continue to update this story.
