Volunteers from WRIGHT-PATTERSON Air Force Base, Ohio-National Aerospace Intelligence Center spent a holiday on November 23 to ensure that families in the community have a good meal on Thanksgiving.

Nine NASIC employees distributed turkey and other food to local residents for the Food Bank’s annual Thanksgiving distribution at Dixie Twin Drive-In in Dayton.

Lauren Tappel, Development and Marketing Manager at Foodbank, coordinated with Staff Sgt. Randolph Koram, he organized and led this volunteer activity.

"Participating in a special community event and bringing joy to families in need by distributing food is beneficial and makes me very happy," Koram said. "In addition, having the opportunity to experience the friendship between the military and civilians is a highlight for all participants. You can see the joy on everyone's face."

The Thanksgiving event served 1,728 families, set a food bank record, and brought it one step closer to the organization's goal of eradicating hunger by 2025.

NASIC volunteers have contributed to a series of community outreach projects in the past year, including "Adopt the Highway" and "Dayton Metro Library" activities.

The following NASIC personnel took time out of their schedule to lend a helping hand at the Thanksgiving Food Bank distribution event:
