11, D23 took place in California.Every year a lot of news from Disney is announced at this event and this edition again brought enough to get excited about.Of course, the editors also watched in suspense what became known. Here they list the announcements they are most looking forward to.Disney is arguably the largest media group in the world. From Pixar to Star Wars and from Marvel to Indiana Jones, there is something for every geek.Their big fan event D23 is therefore always interesting to keep an eye on.Because the number of announcements at such an event can sometimes be overwhelming, our editors list their favorite announcements for you.Although D23 took place just a month ago, one of the announcements made there is already on Disney+.Werewolf By Night is the first television special to be released by Marvel Studios and is also something completely different from what we have come to expect from Marvel.A black-and-white film, based on old horror films from the 1930s and 1940s, in which a group of monster hunters compete in a competition launched by their already-deceased leader. And that in the MCU.It sounded like music to my ears.Immediately after the announcement and the first trailer I was very enthusiastic about this black and white outing.Marvel did something completely different for once and as a die-hard Marvel fan who doesn't miss a second of the MCU, that was really refreshing. After seeing the special, my enthusiasm remains as high as ever.In just 53 minutes, director Michael Giacchino tells an entertaining self-contained story that opens the doors to new possibilities in the MCU.It's nice to see what other types of stories, in addition to the typical superhero stories, can also be told within the framework of the MCU.As far as I'm concerned, Marvel uses Werewolf By Night as a template and more often engages in these kinds of experiments with other genres. If you want to know more about what to expect before you watch this Halloween special, read our preview about Werewolf By Night.I thought Zootropolis/Zootopia was the best movie of 2016 and not just in the animation genre. The film about the optimistic rabbit and the sarcastic fox had a great story, no endless chase plus mass fight as finale (well, a bit) and was very funny. The humor came in no small part from all those other animals that populated the metropolis. From the panther Clawhauser, who doesn't know there's a donut hanging in his chin, to Mr.Big, the tiny shrew mafia boss.So I'm really looking forward to Zootopia+, a six-part animated series for Disney+ that will start on November 9.In this series, which plays simultaneously to Zootopia (a sidequel), the minor adventures of some side characters are shown. The titles of the episodes are already known.I won't spoil them all, but one is called "Dinner Rush" so you can guess which speed demon it is about. What do you call a camel with three humps? When Inside Out came out in 2015, I was intrigued.A film about a girl who moves to the other side of the country is not that exciting, but here her inner emotions took the lead.Joy/Pleasure, Sadness/Sorrow, Fear/Anxiety, Anger/Anger and Disgust/Disgust all express their thoughts on the move, its consequences and how 'their' human Riley feels about all these changes.Inside Out was a real roller coaster of emotions, very understandable for a girl who is overwhelmed by internal and external changes in her life. It's a Pixar movie, so thankfully (almost) everything ends well.So it was announced at D23 that this beautiful, emotional (no pun) film will get a sequel in which Riley is a few years older.I'm very curious how she has changed, what new emotions she may have developed that are now personified. In part 1 she accepted her new living environment and her emotions learned to work together in new ways, but a child's life is constantly changing. There is still plenty to tell and I expect a lot from this sequel. In recent years I have let myself be carried away with the nostalgic void that prevails in the film and series area.Preliminary highlights for me are the third part in the Bill & Ted film series and the Netflix series Cobra Kai (a sequel to the Karate Kid films).Hopefully, at the end of November, another highlight can be added with the Willow series, which is a sequel to one of my favorite fantasy films from the eighties of the same name. What has always appealed to me about the film is that a hero does not necessarily have to be the strongest or greatest person.Even someone with the heart in the right place or a small person like Willow can do great deeds.A first trailer was released during Star Wars Celebration last May.At D23, the series was officially announced with a second trailer and panel discussion. The series will take place about twenty years after the original film and will probably consist of eight episodes.I'm really looking forward to seeing some old acquaintances, but also some new faces.Willow will be on display from November 30.I find myself having a bit of Marvel fatigue. In recent years, Marvel's projects have begun to interest me less and less, perhaps because there are simply so many of them and they're being pooped out in tears by Disney & Co.There is little in the announcements of D23 that really got my attention, but the trailer of Secret Invasion managed to peak my attention.Although the series is very Marvelous, it also shows hints of a spy thriller, which I am more interested in.Besides the whole spy thriller story that the new series seems to have, the star of the show also helps spark my interest.Good ol' motherf-er Samuel L. Jackson returns to the spotlight as Nick Fury and seems (if we are to believe the trailer) to take the lead in this new story.Let's just hope he gets to say his characteristic motherf… in full one day.As a Star Wars geek, of course, I can't stay behind.I have to admit that in recent years we have had an overload of series of which the quality was not always quite right.Of course I'm having a great time, but a series like The Book of Boba Fett and Kenobi really dropped a bit while the characters had so much potential. The Mandalorian and The Clone Wars, for example, do this excellently.Coincidentally, the first one will have a third season. It is especially exciting what the makers will do with the character as the focus is now placed on a much larger world (Mandalore) instead of the focus on the main character himself. The animated series Tales of the Jedi brings back the animation style of The Clone Wars. This time we zoom in on the history of bad guy Count Dooku and a young Qui-Gon Jinn, but audience favorite Ahsoka Tano also returns. We will mainly see what she experienced in the periods when she was not in the picture. Are you as excited about geek culture as we are? Then dive into our Discord server and make your voice heard in our community.Disney is known for making many childhood dreams come true, but adults can't get enough of the company either.Who wouldn't want to walk around in a magical world and see all the so…How has the most popular LEGO license evolved in twenty-three years? In 1999, half of humanity only thought of one thing: The Phantom Menace. After sixteen years of drought and uncertainty, May th…CGI, or computer generated imagery, is a great invention. Thanks to these computer images you can now create beautiful movie worlds: space backgrounds, dream images or miniature worlds.…Welcome to Pixel Vault, your place for all things geek.We collect, criticize, discuss, analyze and review everything in the field of gaming, gear and culture. If it has to do with the geek life, you'll find it here.We do this with our crew, but also with our readers.Together we are the guardians of the Pixel Vault, where we store everything that is important to us.
