Update on I-70 semi-truck fire: so organic bricks ARE flammable… only the EB off-ramp to Ward remains closed while fire crews make sure hot spots are totally out & bricks are off-loaded before the truck is towed. pic.twitter.com/v2KGED62tD

The fire happened just before noon Friday, and firefighters with Wheat Ridge, Arvada and Fairmount fire departments responded and doused the fire. Firefighters remained on scene to make sure the load to not reignite. There were no injuries.

One lane and and exit ramp to Ward Road were shut down by the mishap. Traffic backed up, and drivers were urged to slow down and avoid the area if possible. A tow truck operator arrived, police said at 3:50 p.m. on Twitter, and the truck and trailer were hauled off the highway.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
