News...but not what you know

If you keep staring at your phone, you may be surprised by the sudden appearance of colored dots on the screen.

what! ! What do these lights mean? Is your phone almost dead? Or something suspicious happened?

God bless someone, somewhere, spying on you through a camera without your knowledge-secretly recording your double chin during the huge scroll.

Panic is not. These lights should be there to signal when certain functions of your phone are in use.

This is their purpose, and how they differ on iPhone and Android devices...

On the iPhone, the green light only indicates that the camera function is being used.

If you are not sure where it is, it is a small dot displayed in the upper right corner of the screen, near the front camera.

When you are not using the camera, you cannot see the green dot at all.

Therefore, if it appears unexpectedly, such as when using a third-party application, it is best to pay attention to it. This may mean that the app can access your camera.

You can change the content that the app can access on your device at any time through the settings of your iPhone. Just click "Privacy" and look in the "Camera" list.

This will show which applications can access it. Press the green button to change the permissions, turning it gray-this means that the app can no longer access your photo roll or camera.

As for other Android phones, the meaning of the flashing green light actually depends on the phone model you own. It may be a notification or an indication that the battery is charged.

But for users of the newly launched Android 12 operating system in October 2021, there is another consideration.

If you see a green symbol in the upper right corner, there is a small image of the camera and microphone-this means that your phone is currently using these functions.

At the same time, the orange dot on the iPhone indicates that the device's microphone is in use.

You will see this point at the top of the green dot in the upper right corner of the screen.

It usually appears when you ask Siri a question, record or use voice notes.

If you use the iPhone’s built-in camera to record a video, the green dot in the corner will briefly flash orange to indicate that the microphone is in use, and then return to green.

If it appears when you least expect it, or when using a third-party application, now you know what happened. Similarly, you can adjust the apps you can access via "Settings".

But don't worry: it has nothing to do with your battery level!

Usually with an iPhone, you will only see green or orange dots.

Now Android 12 updates the standard camera microphone warning as well.

However, some Android phones may use colored LED lights to let you know about notifications.

For example, Samsung Galaxy models (S9 or earlier) use flash in this way—the same goes for Galaxy Note9 (or earlier) and Galaxy Alpha. Explaining them is very simple.

Lights up green to indicate that the phone is connected to the charger and fully charged. If the green light starts to flash, it means it is fully charged.

When your phone is charging, it will glow red. If the red link starts to flash, it means you missed a call, text message, or other notification-or your phone is recording.

Finally, a flashing blue light indicates that your phone is connected to the charger but not charging. When you turn off the related Samsung Galaxy model, a flashing blue light will appear.
