Outstanding Employee of December-Albuquerque Public Schools

This month’s winners include the chief guardian, district executive director, high school assistant principal and elementary school principal.

The Albuquerque Public Schools Employee Recognition Program is now in its fourth year and aims to recognize some of the district’s many outstanding employees. They are nominated by their peers and selected by the peer review committee. The winners appeared on electronic billboards around the town and had the opportunity to have lunch with the elders or their representatives. They have also been recognized by the APS Education Committee and received a permanent honor souvenir.

Leonard was described as a good man and a first-rate guardian. He will do his best to help his campus become better. He never asks anyone to do something he wouldn't do. He is an excellent leader of other custodians and has created a strong team. 

"Leonard takes care of everyone on campus," Corrales teacher Terry Comignac wrote. "He cares about our students and talks to them like his children. They call him Mr. Leonard and want to be his helper-collecting rubbish at lunchtime and helping him deliver breakfast. He wins respect because he So respectful and nice to everyone. On the staff side, he will do his best to help-from moving the furniture to removing the animals in the classroom, Leonard will do whatever is needed!"

Kris has worked in the area for many years and has had a significant impact on the students, families and schools she serves. As the executive director of the Department of Student, Family and Community Support, she is responsible for overseeing and leading six different departments: consulting, nursing, coordination of school health, student and faculty support, student health and life skills, and accountability and operations.

Kris has done a great job in promoting and supporting volunteers and community partnerships, bringing plenty of opportunities, services, support, and programs to the region. These assets play a key role in building the capacity of classrooms, schools, and school districts. She directly supports cooperation agreements and ensures that community organizations implement safe practices, obtain background permissions and badges, establish effective school-level partnerships, and focus on student and school goals.

"In addition to all the core functions (and its incredible impact) performed through normal positions, Kris has also stepped up work throughout the pandemic to ensure that it has the most cutting-edge information. The latest guidance is developed and disseminated to all Stakeholders can provide emergency services and are implementing COVID safe practices and procedures," wrote Daphne Strader, director of coordinating school health. "Chris continues to demonstrate a commitment to collaboration, professionalism, and unlimited work ethics, which is not only reflected in her daily work, but also in all the additional responsibilities she assumes in response to the pandemic."

From school police officer Sean Garza: 

"On Sunday, September 26, 2021, at about 8pm, in response to an Albuquerque High School service call, I met someone who I later identified as Assistant Principal (AHS) Herbert Stanley. At the time I met When I arrived at Mr. Stanley, he was sweating profusely and was pushing a cart with the trash he collected. When I asked Mr. Stanley to clean the classroom at 8pm on Sunday night, he replied that he did it to help his guardian with insufficient staff and Overwork."

Mr. Stanley’s actions show that he wants to go beyond his responsibilities to assist his staff and the entire school. Mr. Stanley’s behavior also demonstrated his leadership and passion for his career.

“I think that Mr. Stanley’s decision to take his leave is to improve and clean the school. This proves the best thing the school district can provide. Michelle Waldrop has truly transcended her students, faculty, and school community. Michelle has been an APS employee for some time, but for the past three years, she has been the principal of Apache Elementary School. She handled the three most challenging academic years in the history of education with elegance, professionalism, enthusiasm and strength.

School counselor Lynnae Terborg wrote: “I’ve never seen or worked with someone like this. He puts others first, inspires her staff and students to be the best of themselves, and builds up with our students’ families and the Apache community. A relationship of trust." "As a faculty member, we have experienced some difficult life-changing events, tragedies and challenges. Michelle always ensures that we have everything we need and makes every effort to make our school life go smoothly. ."

From substitute classes, if the school cannot get a submarine, to providing meals for staff who have experienced hardships, Michelle is there. "She inspires you to become the best professional self, to appear regardless of difficulties and truly change the lives of students.
