Emily Blunt stars in the trailer for The English, a violent new western limited series that sees her playing an out-of-place aristocrat.

Emily Blunt stars in the new trailer for The English. The English is a limited series set in the Old West from writer and director Hugo Blick, the man behind The Shadow Line, Black Earth Rising, and The Honourable Woman. Blick put together a stellar cast to bring his unique western to life, with Blunt leading a cast that also includes Chaske Spencer, Ciarán Hinds, Rafe Spall, Toby Jones, Tom Hughes, Valerie Pachner, and Stephen Rea.

Set in 1890, the plot of The English sees Cornelia Locke (Blunt) seeking revenge against the man she deems responsible for the death of her son. To aid her on the arduous journey, she enlists the help of Eli Whipp (Spencer), a Pawnee ex-cavalry scout. Together, the two set out on a violent journey full of terrifying encounters. And while the series offers a revenge tale on the surface, it's said to be a parable on race, love, and power.

The English trailer, shared by the BBC, highlights Blunt in stark, striking environments while establishing the story for audiences. After Blunt's Locke pays Whipp to join her cause, the two encounter a number of characters on their journey, setting up the struggle they are faced with as nobody seems to want to help. As Locke is told, "you can't fight fair," the trailer lets loose, with Blunt taking up weapons and the music swelling. Check out the trailer for The English below:

Blunt is no stranger to acting in a period piece, having films like The Young Victoria and The Wolfman under her belt. She has also proven herself more than capable when tackling action movie roles, proving herself alongside Tom Cruise in Edge of Tomorrow and Dwayne Johnson in Jungle Cruise. So while the Old West may be a bit of a new setting, Blunt looks to be at home in the arid environment.

The English is set for six episodes, and given that it has been dubbed a limited series, that will likely be all for the show. The series is set to debut on Amazon Prime Video on November 11. However, prior to its release, The English will screen at Cannes for the Mipcom trade show in October, offering first reactions to the show. For audiences excited about The English, they can catch the show when it hits streaming this November.
