Home » News » News » Photos + VLOG: First drive with Nissan Townstar EVVan was able to get acquainted with the Nissan Townstar for the first time in the blistering summer heat. The electric Nissan Townstar, we must say, because the compact van only comes to our country with a battery-electric powertrain.Nissan, together with alliance partner Renault, has been a pioneer when it comes to electric driving.Everyone still knows the Leaf.It received a lot of criticism, but the electric car turned out to be a keeper, and Nissan also impressed with the early appearance of the eNV200 in the delivery vans. That car, it arrived in 2014 and there are still quite a few driving around in our country, has not been made since the end of 2021.The Townstar EV is his replacement. You read it already, Nissan is an alliance partner with Renault. And so it's not surprising that we see the Townstar with a very well-known bodywork. The Townstar is based on the Renault Kangoo. So is the Mercedes-Benz Citan. The Townstar, Citan and Kangoo are all based on the alliance's CMF-CD platform and are built at Renault's Maubeuge plant in France. The Townstar does have its own face, however, with a redesigned grille based on the Japanese Kumiko pattern featuring the new Nissan logo for the first time.Behind that logo is the CCS charging connection. The LED lighting is also designed with what Nissan calls 'Japanese DNA'.The rear lights are also slightly different from those of the French and German cousins. If we look at the rest of the Townstar EV, we see that it is largely similar to the Kangoo and Citan.Just look at the design, the interior and also the powertrain. It's a bit boring if you expect to see a 'new' van.The drivetrain is good but… exactly the same as the one we already know from the Kangoo ETECH Electric. The engine has 90 kW/120 hp, with a torque of 245 Nm.The connected battery pack is 44 kWh and takes the Townstar 300 km on a full battery charge. The cargo space then: in L1 it is good for 800 kg of payload and in L2, on the market in the fall, for 1000 kg of payload. The trailer hitch is allowed to hang 1500 kg.It is also a feast of recognition in the interior. Not surprising, but also not bad, because the interior is of good quality and ergonomically in order. So we are still happy with the large glove compartment with sliding drawer, and also the large screen with numerous multimedia functions. The Townstar also features a wealth of safety technologies and advanced driver assistance systems.Side Wind Assist, Trailer Sway Assist, Intelligent Emergency Braking with recognition of pedestrians and cyclists, Junction Assist, Hands-Free Parking and Intelligent Cruise Control ensure that you drive a very modern delivery van.The driving itself is excellent, although the Townstar does not distinguish itself from the Kangoo or Citan in that either. It is true that compared to the other cars in this segment, this car drives very well. For the first time, Nissan is applying the Around View Monitor (AVM) in the light commercial vehicle segment.Using various cameras, the system shows on the display a 360° overview of the area around the car. This means that the driver can also maneuver without worry in the city.We can try this out on a course on the event site.Driving backwards, turning corners, parking in a section and that only with your eyes focused on the images of the AVM.We're doing fine.We would also like to point out the driver assistance system ProPilot, which offers the driver support on the highway. If necessary, ProPilot will bring the Townstar to a complete stop in heavy traffic and then accelerate it again to automatically follow the vehicle in front.ProPilot keeps the Townstar in the middle of the lane, even on tight bends.A significant advantage of the Nissan Townstar is that it comes with a five-year or 160,000 km manufacturer's warranty throughout Europe and an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty on the battery. This also applies to the larger Primastar and Interstar.Keep an eye on Nissan, because by 2030 the entire range, including the Primastar and the Interstar, must be fully electric available.Nissan is currently working to optimize dealer network for the best service to electric vans.Nissan is currently providing support for the switch to EV from its dealers for businesses.Nissan has extensive experience from passenger cars with guidance of customers and their wishes and questions in the energy transition. The Nissan Townstar is estimated to be at the Dutch dealers at the end of September.Prices will be announced at that time. The email address will not be published.Required fields are marked with *This site uses Akismet to reduce spam.See how your comment data is processed.Defense has received the
