Updated, July 19, 2022 (10:35 AM ET): Nothing has reached out to Android Authority to deliver the following statement related to the display issues some users face with the Nothing Phone 1:

The original article on this issue continues below.

Original article, July 18, 2022 (02:12 AM ET): It seems the newly launched Nothing Phone 1 is having some teething problems. Early buyers are reporting issues with the display of the phone, specifically a green tint problem and dead pixels around the selfie camera.

A Twitter user who purchased the Nothing Phone 1 in India from Flipkart noticed a green tint on the phone’s display. A replacement unit sent to the person also had the same issue.

Other complaints on Twitter and Reddit read similarly, with users seeing a green tinge on certain sections of the Phone 1’s panel.

Meanwhile, folks over at news outlet Beebom reported seeing dead pixels near the selfie shooter of their Nothing Phone 1 retail unit within three hours of using the phone. The issue was also reported by another user on Twitter.

Nothing Support has acknowledged the issues on Twitter. However, there’s no official word on why the display problems are happening, if they are hardware-related, or if they need a simple software fix. We also don’t know if the issues are widespread because the Nothing Phone 1 hasn’t really been out there for long. For what it’s worth, we at Android Authority didn’t notice any display discrepancies during our review process.

Green tint display problems aren’t unique to the Nothing Phone 1. We’ve seen them happen on many devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy S20, OnePlus Nord, OnePlus 8 Pro, and more. Phones with OLED panels are prone to screen tinting problems. We’ve seen manufacturers fix them with software updates in the past. We’re hoping Nothing would do the same or replaces problematic handsets. We’ll update this post if we hear more on the matter.
