Joining Keosky-Smith is just part of the company’s growing marketing talent bench

Phoenix, December 14, 2021/PRNewswire/-As the Phoenix-based company expands its business, U-Haul® International continues to attract big-name employees.

Eric Keosky-Smith is the latest to join, signing up to become the director of strategic digital marketing for the DIY moving and self-storage industry leader.

Keosky-Smith came to U-Haul from Hownd®, Inc., where he served as chief growth officer for a software company headquartered in Tempe. Before that, he was the vice president of Moses®, Inc., a Phoenix advertising company. Although his insights have benefited several other companies in Silicon Valley, he has also founded or co-founded many profitable companies and has accumulated seven years of experience in the European market.

"U-Haul is committed to recruiting top talent, and I believe that Eric is like that," said U-Haul Chief of Staff Jessica Lopez (Jessica Lopez). "We are proud to welcome Eric to the U-Haul team. He is an expert and I have no doubt that, together with our excellent team, he will take U-Haul to new heights in digital marketing."

Keosky-Smith will be located outside U-Haul Midtown Campus at 2727 N. Central Ave., where the company has been operating since 1967.

"I am very happy to work with one of the country's most iconic brands," Keosky-Smith said. "In a large and mature organization like U-Haul, there is always room for improvement. My goal is to help bring together many top-notch internal digital resources to further improve our customer service and expansion capabilities. I have been surprised. The thing is, the team’s dedication to helping consumers get the best value from all the U-Haul they come into contact with is incredible."

Keosky-Smith's focus will be on the development of two basic programs under the U-Haul umbrella: Moving Help® and CollegeBoxes®.

Since 2002, Moving Help has been the first choice for customers seeking manual services for loading and unloading during the moving process. MovingHelp.com provides a network of 6,700 local independent moving service providers in all 50 states and 10 provinces in Canada. With more than 5 million jobs and 2.3 million customer reviews completed, customers can access the largest moving labor service network in North America through moving help.

Collegeboxes is the number one university student warehousing and transportation provider in the United States. It was established in 1999 and has been supported by U-Haul since 2009. Currently, 433 partner schools provide their students with coordinated and convenient delivery, pick-up, warehousing and transportation services. Customers can create an account on Collegeboxes.com to initiate an order, and FedEx® will ship the boxes and supplies to the student's home or university address.

After U-Haul's parent company AMERCO® appointed Carrie Martz as a member of the advisory board earlier this year, Keosky-Smith was hired.

Martz has a 35-year record of building a successful brand. She founded The Martz Agency in 1980 and sold her advertising and public relations agency to Bob Parsons, the founder of GoDaddy®, in 2013. Since then, Martz has founded Clean Light Laboratories®, LLC, which has brought to the market a UV-C disinfectant that has been proven to kill SARS-CoV2. She continues to work with the company on brand development and its digital footprint.

Martz has served on the board of directors of cancer treatment centers in the Western United States for eight years. He has also served on dozens of non-profit committees, adding value to their career-related and social impact programs, including more than 20 years of work at Phoenix Suns. She won the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce Athena Award; Stevie International Marketing Women of the Year Bronze Award; and Arizona Chamber of Commerce Athena Small Business of the Year Award.

U-Haul has 356 vacancies in IT, retail customer service, manufacturing, call center support, and many other professional positions in the Phoenix area. AMERCO's subsidiaries Oxford Life Insurance Company and Repwest Insurance Company are also hiring for multiple positions.

Veterans and military spouses have priority in the recruitment and employment process of U-Haul. U-Haul was founded in 1945 by a U.S. Navy veteran and his wife. Many of the first U-Haul team members and customers were veterans returning from the war. Today, U-Haul uses part of its charitable support for veteran organizations and initiatives, and has been repeatedly named a leading U.S. employer that is friendly to veterans.

Since 1945, U-Haul has been the number one choice for DIY porters, with a network covering more than 23,000 locations in all 50 states and 10 Canadian provinces. U-Haul Truck Share 24/7 provides secure access to U-Haul trucks every hour and every day through customer scheduling options on smartphones and our proprietary real-time verification technology. The patronage of our customers has increased the U-Haul fleet to approximately 176,000 trucks, 126,000 trailers and 46,000 tractors. U-Haul provides nearly 825,000 rentable storage units and 71.6 million square feet of self-storage space in facilities owned and managed throughout North America. U-Haul is the largest propane retailer in the United States and remains the largest permanent trailer hitch installer in the automotive aftermarket industry. U-Haul has been recognized many times as the leading employer in the "best for veterinarians" and was recently named one of the 15 healthiest workplaces in the United States.
