After learning a Sherwood landscaper recently had his truck and accompanying trailer containing all his needed tools stolen, a prominent customer and community member is looking to help out.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, Sept. 25, when someone entered an industrial area along Southwest Tonquin Road and stole a maroon 2007 Ford F-250 pickup belonging to Juan Bravo, who runs a landscaping business. Also stolen was an accompanying 5-foot-by-7-foot cargo trailer and the equipment inside, according to a Washington County Sheriff's Office report.

That led Stefan Myers, a customer of Bravo's, to set up a GoFundMe account.

"Juan Bravo is one of the most dedicated landscapers you'll ever meet," Myers wrote on the account.

Myers works for Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue as a public affairs officer, although he emphasized that he started the GoFundMe in his personal capacity. The fire district is not affiliated with the fundraiser.

Myers said the stolen equipment totaled at least $20,000 and left Bravo and his crew without transportation. A D V E R T I S I N G | Continue reading below

Bravo has undergone some significant hardships over the last several years, Myers said.

"I can work hard and replace my equipment and borrow mowers from friends, but my truck is very important to my work," Bravo told Myers. "I have invested money to help it carry my crew and clippings (but) those shocks, struts and modifications can't be easily replaced."

So far, $350 has been raised on the GoFundMe site (gofundme.com/support-juan-bravo) with a goal of $5,000.

Myers said he wants to raise enough money to get Bravo back on his feet and in business again.

"If you are a client of Juan's, you know what a fantastic person he is. He is always friendly with an ear-to-ear smile and loves his work. This latest setback took that away," Myers wrote.

Editor's note: This story has been updated for greater clarity. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue is not affiliated with the fundraiser, and Stefan Myers is speaking in his personal capacity as quoted in this report.
