Shen Graphic Design students participate in Anti-Impaired Driving Billboard Competition – Saratogian

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — Sixty-one Shenendehowa High School students recently showcased their talents and amplified the impact of the impaired in the Clifton Park community and beyond.

The event marked the 21st Annual Anti-Impaired Driving Billboard Competition for Shen High School Graphic Design students.

Continuing with tradition, students with their parents and teachers from Shen’s Graphic Design classes were on-site for the winning reveal at 1771 US Rte 9 in Clifton Park. Out of the 61 designs submitted, sophomore Megan Perkins was named the winner.

“The inspiration for this design was really focusing on the fact that victims are not just statistics, they are real people that had names,” said Perkins, who aspires to major in Graphic Design in the future. “I wanted to show that these tragedies leave an impact on everyone – the friends at school, the community and of course the individual’s family. With graduation season approaching, it is a sharp reminder that your actions matter.”

Perkins’s winning design will be on display for 30 days in its current location and will be seen by 25,000 motorists a day, equating to 600,000 in those 30 days. From there, her billboard will move to another Lamar Advertising location in the Capital District.

Lamar Advertising has also decided to display 11 other designs as digital billboards along different points on Route 9 in Saratoga County. Those top eleven student designs (in no particular order) are:
