The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has dropped another trailer in anticipation of it’s upcoming series premiere and we are here for Galadriel being a baddie, Númenor getting its time in the sun, and orcs causing a fuss while Arondir takes them down. We’re also here for Disa being the best in everything while her husband Durin takes on the elves because everyone and their mother knows there is something afoot. No one knows this more than Galadriel who feels it in her heart that Sauron is bidding his time and leading everyone into a false sense of security before he strikes.

And because we’re obsessed with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, we watched the trailer over and over to catch the smallest detail possible. Some shots in the latest official trailer made us stop and theorize what was going on while others made us scratch our heads in wonder. But one things for sure, darkness is coming. Whether you’re elf, dwarf, harfoot, or human. He is done waiting. And he will take them all down if Middle Earth doesn’t unite. Which, spoiler alert, they do.

Until then, here are 5 things you might’ve missed from the latest The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power trailer!

In a grand battle to stop orcs and those who guide them aka Sauron, Galadriel’s brother was killed. But he wasn’t alone. There were plenty of other soldiers who fell and the pile of helmets that you see Galadriel stacking up is proof of that. So why does her brother specifically have Sauron’s mark that we saw in the SDCC premiere trailer? That’s the mark of a man that was captured, tortured for information, and then killed before Sauron got away. Because you know he did if the mark that the elves (led by Galadriel) found in the frozen wasteland is any indication.

After falling from the sky, this mysterious and powerful man is attracting all sorts of trouble. And from what we can tell, these look like the pre-decessors of Wargs. Maybe these are the wild ones before they were captured and used by Orcs who held an allegiance to the dark forces at work in Middle Earth. But whatever they are, they absolutely sense something powerful in this man. Or they’re just hungry. Whatever they are, they won’t just go away; especially with the attention to detail that went into them. They serve a purpose. And with the power we’ve seen this man display, he’s not going down easily.

Based on what we’ve seen across multiple The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power trailers and teasers, this is Galadriel in Númenor. Just look at the light above her and how it matches the hall from earlier on in this trailer when Queen Regent Miriel was talking. The petals in this moment also match the ones surrounding Elendil at the dock. This is where she will find her army in the battle against Sauron. Not the elves, yet. Not the dwarves, yet. But the people of Númenor. They will match the fire in her and see that darkness is coming for them all. But if that exploding ship is any indication, it’s not going to be easy.

That Eminem looking fellow that is “supposed” to be Sauron is part of this group of followers in white. With closely shorn hair, white robes, and bindings on their body chockful of symbols we yet don’t understand, they are followers of something not understood in Middle Earth. How do we know? It’s a tale as old as time: cult like looking people who think they serve a higher purpose skult around until they inact their plan. So what if Sauron is moving the pieces around in the way he wants while pretending to be a follower…in a cult dedicated to him. Because that staff right there, that’s the Eye of Sauron.

From what we saw of Bronwyn in previous trailers, she’s going to encounter orcs in a home. That means that orcs have been bidding their time in or near human strongholds. Easier to take down, I guess? And these houses look like the ones surrounding Galadriel when she wakes up covered in soot after what looks like a clear loss against a force that she had no idea was so big. That will lead Galadriel on a mission to get more fire power and convince elves, dwarves, and humans to work together to take down an evil that has clearly emerged from hiding. Also maybe Arondir and her will interact?
